What is palisade fencing?

Palisade fencing is rather well known in the commercial sector, especially in industries where security is a top priority. It is constructed using two horizontal running rails to which vertical joists are attached. This type of secure fencing comes in a choice of heights but it’s not uncommon for palisade fencing to be up to 3m high in the UK, and that’s the maximum standard height of this fencing on our website.

Palisade fencing may not be the most ‘pleasing on the eye’ when compared to other designs, however, they’re built with security in mind. For maximum protection, the vertical joists can feature a point or sometimes even a triple point, meaning they are very difficult to climb without the risk of injury. The design itself does actually date back to the ancient Greeks so it’s proven to be an effective security measure for hundreds of years.

We supply both ‘D’ and ‘W’ joists, but the type you choose really depends on the level of security you require. D joists provides substantial security, whilst W joists make the structure even more difficult to climb. That said, if you were to opt for a pointed finish on either of these designs, you’d make it extremely difficult for an intruder to make their way over the fence and onto your premises.

There are plenty of reasons why so many businesses choose to protect their properties with palisade fencing, but these are some of the key advantages:

  • Tricky to climb due to a lack of footholds.
  • Strong visual deterrent.
  • Strong and durable construction.
  • Resistant to extreme weather and does not require regular maintenance work or repairs.
  • Galvanised and can also be powder coated.
  • Offers privacy without compromising on the visual appeal of the premises.
  • Relatively simple to install.
  • High rust and corrosion resistance.

Palisade fencing can be used for a diverse range of applications in the UK, and it’s not uncommon to see them being installed to protect schools, parks, churches, stadiums, industrial sites, railways and highways. Often, they’re installed with matching gates, which provide access to the premises. Aaron Fencing are regularly providing single and double palisade gates for our customers, and these help form a formidable barrier and solute your security problems.

Knowing that your business is secure at all times can help ease anxiety when locking up after a day’s work, and there’s a reason this type of fencing is one of the most popular in the UK for commercial applications. They’ve not only proved to be highly effective over time, but they can also be visually pleasing for commercial properties. So if you’re looking for a barrier that’s secure, robust and versatile, you have to consider this highly popular option.
